Meta Oversight Board Calls For Clearer Rules Against AI-Generated Pornographic Content

The internal Oversight Board at Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ:META) has demanded clearer regulations against AI-generated pornographic content on the company’s platforms.

What Happened: The Oversight Board, an independent entity funded by Meta, found the current rules inadequate in preventing the spread of AI-generated sexually explicit depictions of real individuals, Reuters reported on Thursday.

This decision comes after the Board reviewed and identified two pornographic deepfakes of prominent women, both of which were posted on Meta’s Facebook and Instagram platforms. The Board stated that Meta’s rules against “derogatory sexualized photoshop” were violated and the company failed to promptly remove the content.
