Worst Performing Industries For August 5, 2016
The Dow rose 0.75 percent to 18,490.22, while the NASDAQ composite index gained 0.99 percent to 5,217.26. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 0.62 percent to 2,177.67.
The worst performing industries in the market today are:
- Drug Manufacturers - Other: This industry slipped 4.7 percent by 11:00 am. The worst stock within the industry was Apricus Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: APRI), which fell 17 percent. Apricus Biosciences reported a Q2 net loss of $0.05 per share on revenue of $464,000.
- Computer Peripherals: This industry declined 1.9 percent by 11:00 am with Mad Catz Interactive, Inc. (USA) (NYSE: MCZ) moving down 3.3 percent. Mad Catz reported a Q2 loss of $0.07 per share on revenue of $10.8 million.
- Gold This industry fell 1.4 percent by 11:00 am ET. Tanzanian Royalty Exploration Corp (NYSE: TRX) shares dropped 14 percent in today's trading. Tanzanian Royalty Exploration shares have surged 269.44 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.07 percent in the same period.
- Silver: The industry dropped 1.3 percent by 11:00 am. The worst performer in this industry was Great Panther Silver Ltd (NYSE: GPL), which declined 5 percent.
