Total Online Sales Rose 8.3% On Christmas Day
According to 24/7 Wall Street, IBM Digital Analytics concluded that online sales rose 8.3 percent on Christmas Day compared to Christmas Day 2013.
The report also suggested that mobile traffic accounted for 57.1 percent of all online traffic on Christmas Day, representing an increase of 18.6 percent from a year ago. However, many consumers chose a "more traditional" online experience to finalize transactions as Desktop PC traffic accounted for 65.2 percent of all online sales versus 34.8 percent of all online sales stemming from mobile.
The total average order value rose 6.2 percent from a year ago to $100.33 on Christmas Day, while an average order contained 3.5 items, down 1.4 percent from a year ago.
