Slideshow: Samsung's Rumored 2014 Product Lineup

Another year is about to be over, but Samsung's (OTC: SSNLF) product lineup is just getting started.

In 2013 the company released a cornucopia of smartphones, smart TVs, curved displays and even a smart watch.

All of these products were designed to one-up the devices from its chief competitor: Apple.

The Cupertino, California-based iPhone developer has once again asked a U.S. court to ban the sale of multiple Samsung devices. According to Bloomberg, this includes the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. Those are two of Samsung's newest products, which makes the request a bit more severe than the last.

If these products are successfully banned, it could put a damper on the company's plans for 2014.

That may never happen. Product bans have been threatened before, but they rarely come to pass.

Legal troubles or not, the South Korean tech giant is diving headfirst into 2014 with a handful of new products. Some of them are expected to be released in the first quarter.

The Galaxy S5 does not yet have a release date, but the rumors are already beginning to pour in.

Samsung is expected to exclude the curved display that accompanied the Galaxy Round in 2013.

Instead, the Galaxy S5 may have a diamond metal surface (made from a synthetic diamond material) to make it less susceptible to scratches.

The device is expected to have at least 3GB of RAM but might come with as much as 4GB of RAM.

It could have a 2K display and a 64-bit processor, but it is not yet known if Samsung will be ready to deliver the latter in time for launch.

Samsung has been rumored to be developing a 12- or 13-inch tablet for several months.

If the latest rumors are true, the device should arrive in the first quarter of 2014.

Tentatively known as the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, the large tablet is expected to include a 2,560 × 1,600 LCD display, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 9,500 mAh battery.

As if the 12.2-inch tablet wasn't enough, Samsung is also rumored to be developing a 13.3-inch model.

Little is known about this massive tablet, but don't be surprised if the specs are similar to other high-end Samsung devices.

  • Galaxy Tab 3 Lite

    Galaxy Tab 3 Lite

Samsung seems to be developing a "Lite" version of every major device it releases.

The rumored Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (a cheaper version of the existing Galaxy Tab 3 tablet) is expected to be unveiled in January 2014 at the Consumer Electronics Show.

The unconfirmed spec list suggests that the device will contain a seven-inch display with a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.

Samsung's Lite tablet will be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, which doesn't appear to be significantly different from the standard Galaxy Tab.

The Lite edition will reportedly come with 8GB of storage and 1GB or RAM, along with an older version of Android (4.2 Jelly Bean).

These specs may sound like they came from an older-generation tablet, but the rumored price ($129) may not be the lowest available.

Earlier this year Sprint sold the standard Galaxy Tab 3 for $50 with a two-year contract.

  • New Smart TVs

    New Smart TVs

Not much is known about Samsung's 2014 smart TV lineup, but the company has already confirmed that more units are on the way.

The South Korean tech giant recently updated its blog with new details, promising improved voice and motion (gesture-based) controls.

Samsung -- the only manufacturer of smart TVs that support HBO Go -- is touting a new feature called "finger gesture."

The feature will apparently allow users to adjust the volume, navigate through content and make a viewing selection.

Interestingly, users will be able to jump back to previous screens by moving their finger in a counterclockwise motion.

Samsung claims that this is a "more intuitive way to control the TV."

Additional details (and specific models) will be unveiled at CES 2014.
