US Stock Futures Signal Lower Start On Wall Street
US stock futures are lower this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 49 points to 11,991.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 6.50 points to 1,273.20. Nasdaq 100 futures dropped 10.25 points to 2,335.75.
US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 0.09% to 12,132.49, the S&P 500 index declining 0.41% to 1,286.94 and the Nasdaq 100 index dipping 0.43% to 2,744.61.
The US Institute for Supply Management's factory index dropped to 50.9 last month.
Data on consumer spending for June will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The House of Representatives voted to approve a bill to raise the nation's debt ceiling on Monday. The Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill at 1600 GMT.
Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.15 on revenue of $910.14 million. Archer-Daniels-Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) is projected to report its FQ4 EPS at $0.85 on revenue of $20.43 billion. Coach Inc (NYSE: COH) is projected to report its Q4 EPS at $0.65 on revenue of $1.01 billion.
Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE: DUK) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.31 on revenue of $3.31 billion. CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS) is estimated to report its Q2 earnings at $0.46 per share on revenue of $3.56 billion.
Pfizer Inc (NYSE: PFE) is projected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.59 on revenue of $16.98 billion. Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE: TAP) is estimated to report its Q2 EPS at $1.30 on revenue of $953.59 million. Officemax Incorporated (NYSE: OMX) is expected to report its Q2 EPS at $0.00 on revenue of $1.64 billion.
FMC Corp (NYSE: FMC) reported its Q2 profit at $107.2 million, or $1.49 per share, up from $65.7 million, or $0.90 per share, in the year-ago period. Its revenue surged to $812.2 million from $776.8 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $1.51 per share on revenue of $810.7 million.
Texas Roadhouse Inc (NASDAQ: TXRH) reported downbeat second-quarter profit. The company's quarterly earnings rose to $16.1 million, or $0.22 per share, from $15 million, or $0.21 per share, in the year-ago quarter. Its revenue surged 10% to $279.6 million. However, analysts were expecting earnings of $0.23 per share on revenue of $280 million.
Shares of Synchronoss Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: SNCR) surged about rose 6.35% in pre-market trading after the company reported upbeat earnings and revenue.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 1.02%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.68%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.81% and German DAX 30 index dropped 1.02%.
Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.2035%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.37% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 0.91%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.0674% and India's Sensex dipped 1.16%.
The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.36% to 74.57. The euro fell 0.5% versus the dollar to trade at $1.4199.
The December gold contract climbed $6.90 to $1,628.60 in electronic trading.
