Domino's Patrick Doyle: Honor, Pizza, And Worldwide Expansion

When David Brandon decided to step down as CEO of Domino's Pizza Inc. (NYSE: DPZ) last year, the company replaced him with a man who had more than 10 years experience working for the pizza giant: Patrick Doyle.

Doyle previously served as the President of Domino's USA, leading all domestic retail operations, which included Team USA, Franchise Operations, Franchise Development and Marketing.

In celebration of Domino's 50th birthday, Doyle recently got to ring the closing bell on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

“It's very cool,” Doyle boasted during a recent interview. “It's a real honor. I couldn't have been happier to do that.”

“But I have to say that the bigger honor is getting to lead this organization,” he said. “There have only been three CEOs in the 50-year history of Domino's, and I'm the third. So I'm honored that I've been entrusted with this brand that's become such a great part of the U.S. and increasingly around the world.”

Recently, Domino's has successfully launched locations in Germany, Romania, Ukraine, and Vietnam. “I think the next country is Poland, and that will probably happen in the first quarter of 2011,” Doyle revealed.

With regard to developing the perfect pizza, Doyle said that he loves the Pacific Coast Veggie. “That has become my favorite pizza,” he said. “I love that. But you know what, I'm always happy with a good-ol' pepperoni as well.”
