Fastest-Selling PlayStation Studios Game Ever, Revealed

Sony Group Corp's (NYSE: SONY) Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has achieved a historic feat by becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game in the company's history.

The PS5 exclusive title sold an impressive 2.5 million copies on its launch day, which is remarkable given the PS5's smaller install base of around 40 million units compared to the PS4.

This marks a departure from the previous Spider-Man game in 2018, which sold 3.3 million units in three days and temporarily held the record for fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game.

Spider-Man 2 has received positive reviews, boasting a Metacritic score of 91, making it one of the best-received games of 2023.

Moreover, an upcoming post-launch update is expected to introduce additional features, including a new game plus mode.

Sony aims to sell 25 million PS5 units during the current fiscal year, and Spider-Man 2's exclusive status is expected to boost holiday season sales.

The possibility of future DLC or a larger expansion for the game is uncertain, but Insomniac Games is considering fan feedback and exploring the potential for a Venom spin-off.
