Young Guns Of Fintech: How These Entrepreneurs Built Their Companies And Landed Millions
The 2016 Benzinga Fintech Awards brought together some of the best and brightest minds in financial technology. Six panels with more than a dozen speakers took the stage to discuss everything from market disruption to venture capitalism.
One particular panel was dubbed the "Young Guns Of Fintech" featured:
- Greg Neufeld, partner at Valuestream
- Dan Schleifer, CEO & Co-Founder at ChartIQ
- Andy Swan, Founder at Likefolio
- Leigh Drogen, Founder & CEO at Estimize
- Jason Raznick, Founder & CEO at Benzinga
Raznick asked the panel for some of tips on struggling when launching and growing their businesses. More specifically, how to create a problem into opportunity. Here's a sampling of what they said.
Schleifer: "Starting businesses have aged us prematurely. For years, I literally couldn't sleep. Having a network to share the trials and tribulations with helps push you through."
Drogen: "[Advice he received when he worked at StockTwits] Just stay alive long enough to see this work... Build shit and talk to customers."
Swan: "If we clear this hurdle, that's a major hurdle for anybody behind us. Being able to separate yourself through that hard work/ingenuity can pave the way for opportunity down the road because you didn't take the easy way. Once you do, no one can catch you."
Neufeld: "Selling capital to entrepreneurs when you don't have any capital to sell."
