Wells Fargo: Hewlett-Packard Largest PC Market Share Gainer
Maynard Um of Wells Fargo commented in a note on Monday that Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ) has seen the largest share gain within the PC market.
Um notes that on a year-over-year basis, IDC and Gartner reported a 2.4 percent decline and a 1.0 percent year-over-year increase on a sequential basis, a 1.5 percent and 5.5 percent growth in PC shipments, respectively.
The results are in line with Um's projections and that the PC market trends remain “mixed” across geographies and segments.
Lenovo maintained a market leadership position and gained 20 basis share, accounting for roughly 20 percent of the worldwide PC shipments. However, Lenovo's lead narrowed as Hewlett-Packard gained 120 basis points of market share sequentially.
Hewlett-Packard saw the strongest growth in the U.S. and also saw strength in Asia and Africa.
Of note, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) maintained the fifth spot with a 7.1 percent worldwide market share as its worldwide shipments increased 18.9 percent year-over-year.
