BlackBerry Priv Now Being Sold To Verizon Customers

Share:

While BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ: BBRY) has maintained its staying power thanks in part to ravaging popularity in places like Indonesia, in North America, the market has been less enthused toward the company over the past decade. However, that may be changing.

The BlackBerry Priv – "priv" referencing both "privacy" and "privilege" – BlackBerry's first Android-powered smartphone, may be an attempt to bring the company back into favor with Stateside customers.

Verizon Welcomes Priv

According to a recent androidcentral article, the Priv is now available online from Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ).

Verizon lists the smartphone at full retail price of $720, or $30/month for two years. Androidcentral appears wary toward guessing when the Priv would reach physical Verizon stores based on the "zero fanfare" surrounding the website reveal.

Other Retailers

As of November 2015, the Priv had reached customers at the following retailers: AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), B&H Photo, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) and through BlackBerry itself.

The pricing through these carriers is competitive to Verizon's listed price.

  • AT&T lists the Priv at $739.99, or $24.67/month for 30 months.
  • B&H Photo has a listed price of $699.99.
  • Amazon has listings for new Privs from $697.90.
  • BlackBerry lists the Priv as $699.00 on its website.
