Mark Cuban Says He Would Have Used A 'Magic Wand' To 'Get Rid' Of Both GOP And Democratic Party, Considers Potential Antitrust Lawsuits Against Both Parties

Billionaire investor and “Shark Tank” star Mark Cuban has called for a radical transformation of the U.S. political landscape. Cuban expressed his wish to dismantle the entrenched two-party system, criticizing its divisive nature and the extreme-leaning primary system.s

What Happened: The interview with Bloomberg, originally recorded in March and published on Thursday, saw Cuban voicing his concerns about the current U.S. political system. He pointed out that the primary system tends to favor extremes, forcing candidates to adopt similar stances to avoid being ousted in primaries, Business Insider reported on Friday.

“If I could wave the magic wand, I’d get rid of the two parties, right?” Cuban said in the interview.

Furthermore, Cuban disclosed that he has been consulting with lawyers about potentially filing antitrust actions against both the Democratic and Republican parties. He is inviting individuals with legitimate grievances against these parties to join him in his quest to “sue them for antitrust and just try to take them down.”

Why It Matters: Cuban, a vocal commentator on political matters, has previously contemplated an independent bid for public office. He has also been known to shift his political endorsements, initially supporting former President Donald Trump in 2015 due to his desire to “disrupt traditional politics.” However, ethical disagreements led him to withdraw his support.

More recently, Cuban has thrown his weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign. He believes that the Harris-Walz ticket could resonate with voters, particularly due to their non-Ivy League academic backgrounds. Cuban has also praised Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, for his relatability.
