Apple Releases New iOS 17 Update To Fix iPhone 15 Wireless Charging Glitch In BMW Cars
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has rolled out a new update, iOS 17.1.1, addressing critical bugs, including a wireless charging issue impacting iPhone 15 users with certain car models.
The recent iOS update from Apple comes with crucial fixes for the iPhone 15 series, The Verge reported. Notably, users encountered a significant problem when charging their devices wirelessly in BMW vehicles, which disabled NFC functions such as Apple Pay and the BMW digital car key feature. BMW’s U.K. social media confirmed last month that the issue was under joint investigation with Apple.
An Apple service memo highlighted by MacRumors detailed that the bug affected iPhone 15 models, including the Plus, Pro, and Pro Max variants, and was also reported in Toyota Supra cars. Alongside this fix, Apple has remedied a more benign error where the lock screen weather widget failed to display the snow icon correctly.
The update includes other software enhancements as well. Apple released updates across its ecosystem, with watchOS 10.1.1 addressing battery drainage issues, HomePod 17.1.1 improving Siri response times, and updates for macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 as well as firmware for Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro earbuds.
