Ukraine's Zelenskyy Says He Needs '24-Minutes To Explain' To Trump Why Ex-President 'Can't Manage This War': 'If He Can Come Here...'
Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy invited former U.S. President Donald Trump to visit Ukraine and assess the ongoing conflict with Russia.
The invitation follows Trump’s recent claim that he could end the war between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours if he were re-elected in 2024, reported NBC News.
Zelenskyy challenged Trump’s assertion, stating that he would need only 24 minutes to explain to Trump why he could not bring peace in such a short timeframe. The Ukrainian leader attributed the situation to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“If he can come here, I will need 24 minutes — yes, 24 minutes. Not more. Yes. Not more — 24 minutes to explain [to] President Trump that he can't manage this war," Zelenskyy said.
Despite other Republican presidential candidates, including Chris Christie and Mike Pence, having visited Ukraine, Zelenskyy indicated that he hasn’t had any contact with Trump since his departure from the White House in January 2021.
Zelenskyy stressed the importance of American public opinion in supporting Ukraine.
“I think it's important in the United States and E.U., the attitude of just ordinary people. It's their support. It's their money. It depends on them.”
