NASA Says 'We Launch More Than Rockets' As It Gears Up To Unveil Its Streaming Platform On iOS And Android

On the 8th of November, NASA is set to expand its horizons with the launch of its own streaming platform, NASA Plus. This platform, free of ads and subscription fees, will broadcast exclusive space-related content.

What Happened: According to a Tweet posted by NASA on Thursday, it is stepping outside its traditional realm of space exploration and will soon launch its streaming service, NASA Plus, which was previously in a testing phase.

Unlike its commercial counterparts, the service will not require subscriptions or be disrupted by ads. It will provide users with access to NASA’s Emmy Award-winning live coverage, inside details of its missions, and unique video series. Some of these series will be unveiled alongside the platform.

NASA Plus is part of the agency’s wider digital transformation, encompassing a redesigned website and app. A new trailer has been released to heighten the anticipation for the service’s launch, showcasing awe-inspiring views of our planet and more.

The timing of this initiative is noteworthy as NASA gears up for the Artemis II mission, aiming to send four astronauts back to the Moon around November 2024. The new streaming service is expected to offer exclusive insights into this historic endeavor.

Why It Matters: This move represents a significant shift for NASA as it ventures into the digital space. The streaming platform will offer the public unique access to space-related content, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of space exploration. It also underscores NASA’s commitment to transparency and public engagement as it embarks on its ambitious Artemis II mission. The launch of NASA Plus reaffirms NASA’s position at the forefront of technological innovation, not just in space exploration, but also in the realm of digital media.
