Kamala Harris Calls For Trump's Accountability In Jan 6 Events: 'Let The Evidence Take It Where It May'

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has insisted on the accountability of those involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, including former President Donald Trump, the Associated Press reported.

Harris made the remarks during an interview in Jakarta, Indonesia, stating that everyone, including Trump, has a right to their day in court.

"Let the evidence, the facts, take it where it may," she said,

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty, faces indictment by federal prosecutors for efforts to cling to power post-2020 elections. Additionally, he’s been charged in Georgia over a scheme to subvert voters’ will.

Harris, a former prosecutor, emphasized her belief in legal accountability. “When they break the law, there should be accountability,” she noted.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre affirmed that President Joe Biden shares Harris’s belief in the system of laws, but stressed the independence of the Justice Department.

Harris is currently representing the U.S. at the ASEAN summit.
