Japanese Concert Goers 'Paid For Grimes But Got Elon' And Not All Of Them Think This Was An Upgrade

An unexpected twist unfolded at the renowned "2023 Summer Sonic" music festival in Tokyo when Japanese concertgoers, who had paid to see the artist Grimes, found themselves sharing the spotlight with Elon Musk

What Happened: The sudden appearance of Musk positioned in front of the projection screen and dancing spiritedly while live streaming the concert via X, formerly Twitter, has left concertgoers with mixed feelings.

While some hailed it as a chance to witness the tech billionaire's dance movies up close, others voiced frustration over their obstructed views of the stage.

Why It Matters: The bond between Musk and Grimes, who share two children, had faced public speculation about its status following reports of their split in 2021. However, reports from the event suggested a potential reconciliation, lending credence to the ongoing rumors.

Why It's Important: Last week, Musk took to X and announced his arrival in Japan. This marked his second visit to the country since 2014 when an agreement with Panasonic Holdings of Japan paved the way for constructing a battery factory in the U.S.

This is Musk's second trip to Asia this year, following his visit to China, where he met with government officials and visited Tesla's Shanghai factory.
