Elon Musk Tells Donald Trump: 'Constitution Is Greater Than Any President'

Twitter CEO Elon Musk pinned a tweet in support of the United States Constitution to his Twitter profile in December 2022 in the wake of a statement calling for the termination of “all rules” and “articles” even those found in the country’s principle document by former President Donald Trump.

What Happened: Trump had made a comment on Truth Social at the time, in which he called out collusion between big tech companies and democrats. The former president said about the 2020 presidential elections — ”A massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for termination of all rules, regulations and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”

He said, “Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone False & Fraudulent elections.’

Musk responded to a Fox News story on Trump’s post which said that the former leader made the statement in response to the release of the “Twitter Files.”

“The Constitution is greater than any President. End of story,” Musk said in the tweet.

Why It Matters: White House Deputy Press secretary Andrew Bates said in response to Trump’s statement, “The American Constitution is a sacrosanct document that for over 200 years has guaranteed that freedom and the rule of law prevail in our great country,” reported Fox News.

Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) said Trump says a “lot of things” in an ABC interview. “That doesn’t mean its ever going to happen.” Joyce said there was a need to distinguish fact from fantasy on Trump’s statement.

“I certainly don’t endorse that language or that sentiment. I think the question for everyone is how we move forward,” said  Republican Mike Lawler —  a newly elected New York representative.

The Associated Press has previously dismissed Trump’s statements that the 2020 election was “corrupt” or it was stolen from him.
