Florida Mayhem Announces University 'Overwatch' Tournament

Collegiate esports are gaining steam in Activision Blizzard's (NASDAQ: ATVI) "Overwatch" as OWL's Florida Mayhem announced the Mayhem Collegiate Rumble, presented by Frontier Communications.

The university-level tournament will feature eight colleges across Florida to compete for a share of $5,000 to "help invigorate their school's esports programs."

The prize pool will be distributed to the top four teams:

• 1st place: $2,000
• 2nd place: $1,500
• 3rd place: $1,000
• 4th place: $500

Colleges such as the University of Central Florida (The UCF Gaming Knights), the University of Florida (Gator Gaming) and Full Sail University (Full Sail Armada) will compete.

The tournament begins on May 27, and will be broadcast live on Google's (NASDAQ: GOOG) YouTube.
