NBC Expands Streaming Comedy Service Seeso To Roku And Amazon Devices
NBC (Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA))'s dive into the world of online media continued on Monday with the expanded launch of "Seeso," the subscription comedy service that houses over 2,000 hours of content.
Priced at $3.99 a month, the service originally debuted in January, but presented limited viewing options including watching over the web or through Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Android devices. This week expands the options out to Roku and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN)'s Amazon Fire products.
NBC has not revealed the subscriber count for Seeso so far, but the service is important the network and its investors, as the company plans more of these type of streaming channels in the coming months and years.
In addition to full collections and recent episodes of NBC late-night staples "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," "Late Night With Seth Meyers" and "Saturday Night Live," the network features original comedy series featuring celebrities such as Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation") and Matt Walsh ("Veep").
Classic NBC comedy series such as "30 Rock," "The Office" and UK mainstays "The IT Crowd," "The Mighty Boosh" and "Fawlty Towers" are also included in the cost.
