Apple Files First Motion Related To FBI-iPhone Unlocking Battle

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) filed its first legal response in relation to the court ruling which intended to oblige to company to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters for the FBI. The motion was aimed at vacating the aforementioned court order, arguing that, "This is not a case about one isolated iPhone."

"This case is about the Department of Justice and the FBI seeking through the courts a dangerous power that Congress and the American people have withheld: the ability to force companies like Apple to undermine the basic security and privacy interests of hundreds of millions of individuals around the globe," the motion continued.

The filing seems to be setting the stage for a lengthy and probably grandiose legal battle.

"The All Writs Act does not support such sweeping use of judicial power, and the First and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution forbid it," Apple stated strong-wordily.
