Struggling Tech Names Trading Higher Prior To CES Conference
The International Consumer Electronics Show is one of the biggest trade shows in the world, attracting a bevy of businesses and people. The conference is taking place from January 6-9 in Las Vegas. Interestingly, shares of GoPro Inc (NASDAQ: GPRO) and 3D Systems Corporation (NYSE: DDD) were trading higher on the day.
GoPro, once trading as high as $68.50 this past year, fell all the way to a low of $15.90. No pertinent news has been announced regarding the company this week, yet shares were trading up 7.6 percent at $19.39. These bullish moves may be in anticipation for GoPro's presentations occurring this Wednesday at 12:25 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. PT.
3D Systems is another possible CES play, as shares continue to rise throughout the day. The company did issue a press release regarding the launch of its new metal printing device ProX DMP 320. It is likely that this release, combined with its CES 2016 presentation, drove the stock to a high of $10.15 on the day, up 16.23 percent.
