Shares Of Aerohive Moving On Apple News

Shares of Aerohive Networks Inc (NYSE: HIVE) were trading higher by more than 2 percent Thursday morning after the company announced the addition of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) to its worldwide roster of partners reselling its cloud-enabled, distributed Wi-Fi and routing solutions.

"Apple's commitment to re-sell Aerohive products is a significant next step in our relationship, and increases Aerohive's position as the number one, pure play in cloud managed Wi-Fi," said Bill Hoppin, vice president, business development, Aerohive Networks. "We are extremely excited to partner with industry leader Apple, the reach it gives Aerohive and the purchasing options it enables us to provide to our customers."

Aerohive noted in its press release that rising demand for schools to deliver "21st century learning" has resulted in rising demand for smart devices and better networking infrastructure to deliver secure, fast and reliable wireless access.

The company's controller-less, WLAN architecture allows for simple, cost-effective deployment of cloud-enabled, distributed Wi-Fi and routing solutions. This is necessary for highly distributed education environments with limited resources and IT budgets, according to Aerohive.

Aerohive's relationship with Apple dates back to October 2014 when the company was selected by Apple to join its $100 million contribution to ConnectED, a U.S. government initiative to empower teachers with technology and training to deliver a superior education. Aerohive is the only Wi-Fi infrastructure that worked with Apple.

"The partnership with Apple is the latest demonstration of how Aerohive, which has a 100 percent channel sales model, is expanding its reach by aligning with large brands and resellers to address the market for reliable, scalable networks that can be cost-effectively deployed," the company further noted in its press release.
