Tim Cook Sidesteps Potential Apple, Tesla Tie-Up

While the world might be ready for a Tesla-Apple joint venture, the two companies aren't. At Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AAPL) annual shareholder meeting Tuesday, shareholders pressed CEO Tim Cook for his opinion on Apple acquiring Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA).

Shareholders On The Edge Of Their Seats

Shareholders kept social media audiences updated about the meeting via Twitter as well. "Apple shareholder tells Tim Cook 'I'd like to see you guys buy Tesla.' Stand by for his response..." tweeted Tim Bradshaw.

Cook Dodges Direct Replies

However, CEO Cook blatantly avoided giving them one.

Daisuke Wakabayashi tweeted while at the meeting, "Tim Cook says we don't have a relationship with Tesla, wants them to use CarPlay. 'Was that a good way to avoid the question?' Laughter."

'Why Can't We Be Friends?'

If the two tech giants were to somehow ink an agreement to work together, the possibilities could be endless -– which is precisely why shareholders and tech enthusiasts will continue hoping Apple buys Tesla or the two companies agree to work together in the near future.

Moreover, apart from working on CarPlay, Apple is looking to enter the auto market with an electric vehicle (EV) of its own, as reported the Wall Street Journal. If that's the case, Apple may soon have the upper hand in the EV market against Tesla, since it's known to disrupt almost every new market it enters.

However, if what the two companies' shareholders want comes to fruition, the tech giants could become a tech giant duo and produce some exciting results instead.
