Summit Research Partners' Richard Williams On Rumor Of IBM, Oracle Interest In FireEye: 'The Question Is Whether FireEye Is Willing To Sell'
Richard Williams, an analyst with Summit Research Partners, told Benzinga that it wouldn’t surprise him if both International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) and Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) are interested in FireEye Inc (NASDAQ: FEYE).
“The bottom line is, FireEye has got the best technology, and the rivals can’t compete,” he said.
Williams explained that the real question is whether or not FireEye would want to sell.
To Williams, the only thing that would make FireEye sell is if the company loses the tremendous advantage it has in the cyber-security field, whether by other technological advancements or market place movements.
“Short of that, why would you give up a pure play with a huge technology lead in a marketplace that’s crying out for security?” he asked.
