Under Armour Announces Multi-Year Sponsorship With Rugby Canada
In a press release on Tuesday, Under Armour (NYSE: UA) and Rugby Canada announced a new multi-year sponsorship as the official partner for the sport's governing body.
The press release states, “The brand will manufacture and design training and match day kits for Rugby Canada national teams effective immediately.”
The partnership of Under Armour and Rugby Canada includes the commercial marketing rights and in-stadium signage.
Under Armour is currently the “technical partner for the Welsh Rugby Union, Tottenham Hotspur of the Barclays Premier League, Colo-Colo of the Chilean Primera División and Toluca of Mexico's Liga MX.”
Under Armour's executive VP of Global Brand and Sports Marketing, Matt Mirchin, commented, “This partnership continues our commitment to empowering Canada's rugby players and elevating the national team's presence throughout the world. We look forward to providing our proven technology in performance footwear and apparel to athletes whose will and determination earns them the honour to wear the national team kit.”
Shares of Under Armour closed at $47.40 on Monday and are currently trading at $46.56, down 1.77 percent.
