Sainsbury Q2 Comparable Sales Rise 1.9%

J. Sainsbury PLC (OTC: JSAIY) reported a 1.9% rise in its comparable sales in the second quarter.

Its total sales, excluding fuel, surged 4.4% in the quarter, while total sales, including fuel, for the 16 weeks to September 29 rose 4.3%.

Sainsbury's total sales, including fuel, for the first half surged 4.0%, while like-for-like sales rose 1.7 %.

Sainsbury's shares closed at $22.09 yesterday.
