US Stock Futures Mixed Ahead Of Earnings Reports; IBM Shares Down In Pre-Market
US stock futures are mixed this morning, as investors are awaiting earnings reports from major companies. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 21 points to 11,280.00 and S&P 500 index futures fell 1.20 points to 1,192.70. Nasdaq 100 futures surged 7.75 points to 2,328.75.
US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipping 2.13% to 11,397.00, the S&P 500 index dropping 1.94% to 1,200.86 and the Nasdaq 100 index declining 1.98% to 2,614.92.
Data on September producer prices will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. However, the NAHB Housing Market Index for October will be released at 10 a.m. ET. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is scheduled to give a speech at a conference in Boston at 1:15 p.m. ET.
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $1.20 per share on revenue of $16 billion. Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) is expected to report its Q4 EPS at $7.28 on revenue of $29.45 billion. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: GS) is projected to report a third-quarter loss of $0.07 per share on revenue of $4.95 billion.
Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ: YHOO) is estimated to report its Q3 EPS at $0.17 on revenue of $1.07 billion. Harley-Davidson Inc (NYSE: HOG) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.76 on revenue of $1.29 billion.
The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) is expected to report its Q3 EPS at $1.02 on revenue of $12 billion. CSX Corporation (NYSE: CSX) is projected to report its Q3 EPS at $0.44 on revenue of $2.97 billion. Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC) is projected to report its Q3 earnings at $0.28 per share on revenue of $25.7 billion.
Shares of International Business Machines Corp (NYSE: IBM) dropped about 4.4% in pre-market trading after the company reported its Q3 adjusted earnings at $3.28 per share on revenue of $26.2 billion. However, analysts were expecting a profit of $3.22 per share on revenue of $26.3 billion.
Crocs Inc (NASDAQ: CROX) lowered its Q3 forecast.
European markets were lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index fell 1.01%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 1.13%, French CAC 40 index declined 1.89% and German DAX 30 index dropped 0.61%.
Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.5506%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 2.04% and China's Shanghai Composite dropping 2.33%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dipped 4.2256% and India's Sensex declined 1.60%.
China's gross domestic product climbed 9.1% y/y in the third quarter, versus a growth of 9.5% in the second quarter.
The dollar index (DXY) gained 0.3% to 77.402.
