Former Nokia Exec Attempts to Reinvent the Wrist Watch; Too Bad Apple Already Did That with the iPod Nano
Even people who leave Nokia can't escape Apple's wrath.
That's the downside to being in the tech industry: sooner or later, Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is going to make you wish the firm had stuck to making PCs.
Regardless, Juha Pinomaa, a former Nokia (NYSE: NOK) exec (and the former President of Suunto), is diving headfirst into the watch business by taking Meta Watch off of Fossil's (NASDAQ: FOSL) hands.
According to TechCrunch, Meta Watch is attempting to “reinvent the wrist watch.” (Yes, you read that correctly.) If that doesn't sound silly enough, then wait till you hear the wonderful features Meta Watch plans to bring to consumers: social networking service updates, music controls, sports performance feedback, turn-by-turn directions, and some form of communication/messaging.
Call me crazy, but isn't there a phone with a whole slew of apps for that?
If music is all you care about (and if the iPhone is just too big), Apple also has an iPod Nano for that:
So tell me, consumers: which would you rather wear around your wrist – a $179 Nano or a $200 Meta Watch?
