Five 'Good Friday' Stocks Rebecca Black Might Like
If you've wandered on to youtube in the last couple of months, you may have stumbled across what some call either the catchiest, or absolute worst, song on the internet. "Friday," by teen pop singer Rebecca Black, managed to catch on despite its, shall we say, less-than-brilliant lyrics.
So far, the teenager's official video on youtube has garned over 113 million page views, cementing its place as one of the most bizarre popular videos of the year. Lyrics like "It's Friday, Friday/Gotta get down on Friday/ Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend" and "Tomorrow is Saturday/ And Sunday comes after...wards/I don't want this weekend to end," offer some insight into which stocks the teen sensation might pick.
Google: (NASDAQ: GOOG) At first glance, it would seem Rebecca Black would be more interested in investing in youtube, the website which brought her such fame and, presumably, fortune. Sadly, youtube is not publically traded, so Black instead chooses the search engine that has her near the top of its searches. Google is down $0.88 on the day to $524.85, a loss of 0.17%.
Sony: (NYSE: SNE) Sony might also make sense as a play for Rebecca Black, particularly if she hopes to turn her 15 minutes of fame into an actual recording deal. Sony also offers Black the opportunity to branch into movies, television, and the inevitable video game. Sony is up $0.28 on the day to $30.42, a gain of 0.93%.
Taser: (NASDAQ: TASR) Rebecca Black has reportedly received dozens of death threats since her video went viral, leading the Anaheim police to investigate. Perhaps Black would prefer to take matters into her own hands and invest in a Taser unit, as well as the company's stock. Taser is down $0.10 on the day to $3.99, a loss of 2.44%.
PF Chang's: (NASDAQ: PFCB) Where do you go when it's Friday, Friday? If you're unsure what your date might enjoy, why not go to PF Chang's? They offer vegetarian and carnivorous dishes...and they were mentioned on The O.C. What's better than a mention on the O.C.? PFCB is down $0.42 on the day to $45.88, a loss of 0.91%.
National CineMedia: (NASDAQ: NCMI) What better way to cap off a Friday night than to take in a movie? Perhaps Rebecca Black draws straws among all the cinema companies and takes a stab in the dark at NCMI. NCMI is down $0.09 on the day to $17.22, a loss of 0.52%.
