Mozilla Launches Firefox 4
After nearly a year in development, Mozilla has yesterday released to the public the finished version of Firefox 4 that sports a completely redesigned interface, under-the-hood upgrades, and new features.
The interface has been pared down to allow a clutter-free window into the web, with a single condensed menu button similar to the one on Google Chrome.
The new features implemented are aimed at making navigating the web easier and more efficient. For example, Firefox 4 has 'App Tabs', with which users can launch frequently-visited websites with a single click, and a quick 'Switch to Tab' function.
A 'Panorama' feature also lets users organize tabs into manageable groups while navigating with many tabs open.
Elsewhere, Mozilla is claiming Firefox 4 to be “up to six times faster than the previous release”.
Mozilla has also launched a micro-site that tracks how many times Firefox 4 has been downloaded.
