Marc Benioff Explains Salesforce's $2.8 Billion Acquisition Of Demandware

salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE: CRM) announced on Wednesday it has agreed to acquire Demandware Inc (NYSE: DWRE) (NYSE: DWRE) for $75 per share, or $2.8 billion. Salesforce's CEO Marc Benioff was a guest on CNBC to discuss the acquisition.

Benioff was quick to point out that Salesforce's customers are trying to connect with their customers "in a whole new way" and also want to find new ways of creating new online stores.

"The commerce cloud - that is what we are going to create with Demandware," Benioff said. "This is going to be amazing."

He said many of Salesforce's clients also happen to be Demandware's clients. Following the acquisition, the overlapping client base will be able to use "one customer solution so they can connect with their customers in a whole new way.

"We are really well positioned for growth for the next two to three years," Benioff also said.

Benioff expanded that technology companies are nearing the end of the 2008 recovery cycle and no other company is prepared for growth in the post 2008 recovery cycle than Salesforce is.
