Argentine Football Association Partners With Upland To Bring National League Into The Metaverse

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is now entering the metaverse.

The AFA oversees the national soccer league. In a bid to provide its customers the opportunity to enter the metaverse to enjoy the benefits of a closer relationship with teams and well-known players, the AFA has partnered with Upland, a real-life mapping metaverse project.

The collaboration between Upland and the AFA would reportedly include digital representations of all the league's teams, including players, tickets, games, historical moments and platform-exclusive experiences.

This might also help the league attract younger, Web3-focused fans as well as digital soccer collectors.

The four-year agreement, the first of its kind for the AFA, aimed to increase revenue for the Argentine Soccer League through the sale of various licensed digital assets.

This metaverse experience would not be entirely one-sided, as the site allows fans to sell these digital artifacts to other people, creating a secondary market.

After the national team won the recent FIFA World Cup hosted in Qatar, the AFA hoped that this would strengthen the organization's bond with its supporters and bring worldwide awareness to the domestic league.

The emerging technologies of the metaverse would be utilized by this partnership, said Claudio Tapia, president of the AFA.

"This agreement allows us to partner with the best creators of technology and new digital products and thus generate a new source of income for all participating clubs. We welcome Upland as a new commercial partner of our Association and of the Argentine Professional Soccer League," Tapia said.
