Ford Motors (F) Had a Good Year In China
Ford Motors (NYSE: F) had a good 2009. Its China sales grew by record 44% Year-on-year in 2009. Ford, along with its Chinese partners sold more than 440,000 vehicles.
Tax cuts on small engine vehicles helped boost the sales of Focus compact and Fiesta subcompact car. According to a statement released by Ford, its commercial vehicle joint venture, Jiangling Motors Corp. recorded 114,688 units sales. This figure is up by 21% from 2008. Ford is looking forward to increase its presence in China. It is currently in talks with Chinese carmaker Geely regarding the sale of its Volvo brand.
