Anytime Fitness Opening in Downtown Detroit

Downtown residents and workers will have a new facility to begin their New Year's pledges.

On Tuesday, September 10, developer Mike Ferlito confirmed Anytime Fitness will be opening a renovated, 5,000 square foot facility on January 1, 2014 at 735 Griswold.

Joe Ferlito, Mike's cousin, both of The Ferlito Group, contacted a representative from the nationwide fitness chain over the summer. Work has already been started on the vacant street-level space inside Security Trust Lofts, located in the heart of the area's financial district.

The building, designed by famed architect Albert Kahn, is one block south of Campus Martius and has been in existence since 1925. There are 20 units leased out, 15 of which are currently available for application. The units range in price from $1,275 to $2,350 per month.

Anytime Fitness has nearly 2,000 locations nationwide and 400 outside of the United States. They have about 15 centers in the Metro Detroit area, but none within the city limits.
