Confirmed: Chris Christie Not Running For President
After a few weeks of speculation of will he or will he not, we can say with almost 100% certainty, he will not.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is holding a press conference today in Trenton, N.J. at 1 p.m. to talk to the press. No agenda has been mentioned, but according to a tweet from Breaking News, Christie will not run for President of the United States.
He is meeting with the press, instead of a speech, and he is also going up against the Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) release of the next version of the iPhone. If Christie were running for President, he would not be making a wise choice to go up against an event so powerful in terms of media coverage.
Many have speculated as to why Christie should or should not run, but the recent days have show an increase in speculation as to whether Christie would run to compete against Barack Obama. Republicans contingencies, particularly those on Wall Street, have a deep hatred for Obama and his policies, and are not exactly enthralled with the current Republican nominees.
That hatred for Obama, and the lack of support for Governor Rick Perry and some of the other Republican nominees was never more present than at the Delivering Alpha conference in September. If you are a Republican and you do not like Obama and the current administration, there are only two major options: Perry, or Mitt Romney.
Today's press conference may let us know which way Christie is leaning. His support behind one of the two major candidates would go a long way towards helping champion their cause for the next President of this country. We will find at 1 p.m. whether Christie takes this step or not.
One thing is for certain. He will NOT be running for President. At least not yet.
