Players Upset As Velve's 'Counter-Strike 2' Drops Beloved 'CS:GO' Features

Valve recently took the Counter-Strike community by surprise.

"Counter-Strike 2" was released as an update to "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive."

While this update introduced several new gameplay aspects and enhancements, it also came with significant changes that left many players disappointed, IGN reported.

One of the most significant disappointments was the complete replacement of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with Counter-Strike 2, except for its availability as an offline "demo."

This transition resulted in the disappearance of several cherished features from the original game. Players quickly took to platforms like Reddit and Twitter to voice their concerns.

Some mention the absence of modes like Arms Race, Flying Scoutsman, and Danger Zone, while others miss specific maps. Valve also removed Mac support without explanation.

Beyond the removal of features, a portion of Counter-Strike 2's player base faced another setback: Valve eliminated support for Apple Inc's (NASDAQ: AAPL) Mac players without providing any information on whether it would be reinstated. This move left Mac users unable to access the game.

While Valve acknowledged server issues, with reports of an "almost unplayable" experience for some international players, they promised to add more server capacity to address the problem.

"Turns out a lot of you want to play Counter-Strike 2! If you're having trouble finding a match it's because we've hit server capacity in different regions. We're adding more server capacity as fast as possible. Thanks for your patience while this is being addressed," the game's official account tweeted.

Criticism also arose about the perceived lack of new content in Counter-Strike 2, with some players feeling that the game hadn't introduced enough new features since its beta version or the original CS:GO entirely.

While there are players who appreciate Counter-Strike 2's enhanced graphics and new features like responsive smoke grenades, the vocal dissatisfied community has yet to receive a response from Valve.
