Counter-Strike 2 Debuts With Tough Stance On Cheaters, Valve Also Targets Their Friends

Valve recently launched Counter-Strike 2 on Steam, accompanied by a stern warning aimed at cheaters.

In an effort to combat cheating within the game, Valve took a strict stance: not only would the company ban cheaters, but it would also impose penalties on the cheaters' friends and associates, resulting in a loss of Profile Rank and CS Rating.

"When one or more party members get convicted of cheating and permanently banned, all their associates will be penalized with loss of Profile Rank and CS Rating," the company explained in the release notes for the game.

This approach was further reinforced in the game's competitive mode, Premier, where players with high established CS Ratings were not allowed to team up with accounts lacking such ratings, showcasing Valve's commitment to curbing cheating.

Valve's battle against cheaters in the Counter-Strike franchise was ongoing, even before the release of Counter-Strike 2.

The game itself, built on Source Engine 2, quickly amassed a substantial player base on Steam, exceeding 1.3 million concurrent players.
