No Shoes, No Shirt And For Astros Players, No Service: World Series Team From Houston Refused Food In The City Of Brotherly Love

The 2022 World Series has the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies competing for the title of baseball champion for the season. Both teams have had somewhat recent success with the Astros winning the World Series in 2017 and the Phillies winning in 2008.

The battle between the two teams shifted to food this week with several local eateries refusing service to the opposing teams.

What Happened: Under the current 2-3-2 format of the World Series for Major League Baseball, the team with the best record gets the home-field advantage and hosts the first two games before heading to the opposing team’s stadium for three straight games. Games 6 and 7 are hosted by the better record team if necessary.

The Astros have home-field advantage and now play three games in Philadelphia, known as the "City of Brotherly Love."

As it turned out, a couple of Philadelphia eateries weren’t in the mood for brotherly love when asked to feed hungry Astros players.

Angelo’s Pizzeria and Mike’s BBQ both turned down catering requests from the Astros, as reported by NBC Sports. Several posts were shared on social media with both restaurants keeping their allegiances to the local baseball team.

“If you think I’d cook for the Astros, you’re out of your mind. We said no to them,” a man said in a video posted on Angelo’s Instagram account.

No word on if the Astros ended up getting food before Game 3 of the World Series that was shown on Fox Corp (NASDAQ: FOX)(NASDAQ: FOXA).

One thing for sure is the Astros' bats went hungry in the game.

The Astros had five hits in the game but ended with no runs and lost 7-0 to the Phillies. The Phillies might have been well fed on Tuesday with five players hitting home runs, including star Bryce Harper.

This marked the first time five players hit five home runs in the first five innings of a World Series game according to data from ESPN.

What’s Next: The Phillies now lead the World Series two games to one in the best-of-seven round.

Game 4 and Game 5 will both be hosted by the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, where the team holds a 6-0 postseason record currently.

The schedule for the remaining World Series games that air on Fox is:

Game 4: Wed. Nov. 2, Houston at Philadelphia

Game 5: Thu. Nov. 3, Houston at Philadelphia

Game 6: Sat. Nov. 5, Philadelphia at Houston (if necessary)

Game 7: Sun. Nov. 6, Philadelphia at Houston (if necessary)

The Phillies are listed with odds of -140 to win the World Series on DraftKings Inc (NASDAQ: DKNG). The Astros are now underdogs listed at odds of +120 to win the World Series.

The betting line is currently even for Wednesday’s Game 4 matchup with both the Astros and Phillies listed with odds of -110 on DraftKings.
