Metals Mostly Mixed, Copper Soaring
The metals market is mixed today, with the notable exception of copper, which is soaring, up almost 2% today. Equities are lower, with all three indexes down after having started higher on news that Warren Buffett invested in Bank of America (NYSE: BAC).
Copper is up 7.25 cents to trade at $4.0705, a gain of 1.8%.
Ipath Dow Jones Ubs Copper Total ETF (NYSE: JJC) is up 87 cents to $53.29, a gain of 1.66%.
Silver is up sharply, up 98 cents to $40.15, coming back over $40 after falling below yesterday.
Shares of Ishares Silver Trust ETF (NYSE: SLV) are up 1 cent to $38.84.
Gold is down $14 an ounce to $1,743.30, a loss of 0.8%.
Shares of Spdr Gold Trust ETF (NYSE: GLD) are down $3.05 to $168.60.
Platinum is down $12.50 an ounce, trading at $1,813.80, a loss of nearly 0.7%.
The platinum ETF settings First Trust ISE Global Platinum Index (NASDAQ: PLTM) is down 10 cents this morning to trade at $23.00.
Palladium is up $8.45 an ounce today, trading at $751.60, as it looks like it will break $800 an ounce.
Shares of ETFS Physical Palladium Shares (NASDAQ: PALL) are higher today, up 14 cents to $74.45.
