Investors: Watch These Media Stocks In The Heat Of Earnings Season

In a new report, analysts at Barrington Research looked at trends in media and how they will affect this earnings season for media stocks. Analysts point out that the success in the media group so far this year has been very stock-specific, and there has been a large degree of variance in performance among names in the space.

In a recent sit-down with DTS Inc (NASDAQ: DTSI) management, analysts had a chance to learn about some of the technologies that will be shaping the company’s future. These technologies include multi-room audio technology Play-Fi, DTS Headphone:X and high-end codec DTS:X.

Analysts call the stock their top media performer this year, and shares of DTS have surged more than 16 percent year to date.

Rebound Story

Analysts point out that shares of Sirius XM Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: SIRI) have bounced back recently after a fairly stagnant year in 2014. According to analysts, EBITDA gains last year coupled with stalling share prices have created a much better value for potential Sirius buyers.

Analysts name Rovi Corp (NASDAQ: ROVI), which has fallen more than 13 percent this year, as their biggest disappointment so far in 2015.

TiVo Inc (NASDAQ: TIVO) is another name that has “struggled to create momentum” so far this year.

Finally, Pandora Media Inc (NYSE: P) has also lagged in 2015 as management continues to piece together a monetization strategy and deal with upcoming royalty renewal agreements.
