Top Analysts Discuss European Union Regulatory Investigation Into Apple
JP Morgan issued an industry report highlighting Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) amid concerns over regulators in the European Union.
Analysts Rod Hall and Ashwin Kesireddy wrote, "European Union antitrust regulators are investigating Apple's deals with record labels and online music streaming services to see if it is blocking rivals' access to its planned music streaming platform."
The European Union competition authority released questionnaires to music streaming companies amid signs of Apple attempting to take control of the music streaming market, negating competition from rivals. The questionnaire asks about the terms and conditions of the licensing of content to music streaming platforms and record labels.
Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a subscription based music-streaming service that will compete with European players such as Spotify.
Shares of Apple closed Thursday at $125.32.
