Oppenheimer: Apple Watch Could Fundamentally Change How We Interact With Smartphones

Following Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL)'s Spring Forward event, the tech world is flooded with news about the company's official presentation of the much anticipated Apple Watch. 

Oppenheimer was among a number of investment firms and analysts who provided their insights on Apple's smartwatch. After briefly trying on and examining the gadget, the firm's analysts are more confident that "[the Apple Watch] will act as the ‘concierge' of the broader Apple ecosystem."

"The Watch not only brings in new human interface designs (ForceTouch, Taptic Engine), but also, at a much higher level, signals the beginning of a new age in mobile computing—the age of notifications, short interactions, and context-specific tracking and monitoring," a report rolled out late-Monday stated.

The analysts believe the Apple Watch is a "well-conceived, revolutionary product that may fundamentally change the way we interact with smartphones and their extended network of electronics devices."

In addition to impacting the way users interact with mobile devices, Oppenheimer suggests the device is "a very important product that may significantly impact the way Apple designs its future products."

The firm sees it "ushering in the age of notifications, when mobile device users will spend less time inside apps and act more directly with notifications."
