Summit Research Partners Analyst Says IBM Would Be More Obvious Fit For FireEye Than Oracle
When asked if he had heard the Dealreporter rumor that both International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) and Oracle Corporation (NYSE: ORCL) are interested in FireEye Inc (NASDAQ: FEYE), Summit Research Partners Analyst Richard Williams told Benzinga that IBM would make more sense.
“IBM has got the infrastructure to utilize their capabilities much more than Oracle does,” he said.
Williams explained that it would be easy for IBM because it’s acquired a lot of security assets over the years. He pointed out that while Oracle has good security for databases, the company has not focused on perimeter, detection or end-point.
“It’s one of our gaps that we have noted for many years, that Oracle doesn’t have a significant security footprint outside of the database,” he said.
