SunTrust Robinson Makes Whiting Petroleum Top Pick Due to Revolutionary Techniques

SunTrust Robinson analyst Ryan Oatman reported Whiting Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: WLL) as the top pick in his note. Oatman increased the PT from $69 to $92.

The analyst commented that Whiting Petroleum's new well completion techniques “looks revolutionary” and inventory may be “deeper” than expected. Other Bakken companies such as Emerald Oil is likely to benefit from new concepts and higher productivity due to their exposure to the western part of the basin.

Whiting closed at $61.55 on Wednesday.
