On 9/22, Piper Jaffray will host a webinar to delve deeper in to the European collocation market, featuring Tim Anker, the founder of the Colocation Exchange for a Q&A session monitored by Piper Jaffray analysts. The webinar will begin at 10:30 am EST and can be accessed at www.piperjaffray.com/webinar.

Current Piper Jaffray telecom world news:

Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) announced a wireless MVNO dubbed Wal-Mart Family Mobile” that runs on the T-Mobile network. The service introduces new low pricing for unlimited additional lines and we think will put pressure on prepaid competitors. See our 9/14 note for details.

Level 3 (NASDAQ: LVLT) launched an offering of $175M in convertible notes, which priced at 6.5%.

Clearwire (NASDAQ: CLWR) is beginning to offer dual-mode 3G/4G data cards and service to select customers in NY and LA as the company intends to cover those markets by year-end.

Leap (NASDAQ: LEAP) adopted a tax preservation plan aimed at securing the value of their NOLs in the event of a takeover. The plan, however, reads and acts more like an anti-takeover measure. See our 9/14 note for more details.

TeleNav (NASDAQ: TNAV) launched a mobile advertising platform to complement its navigation services. Meanwhile, Nokia updated its Ovi Maps service to include traffic, public transportation and the ability to “check-into” locations.

Speaking at an investor conference, Sprint (NYSE: S) CFO Bob Brust ruled out a near-term purchase of the rest of Clearwire. Instead, expect Sprint to build its ownership stake over time through additional funding.

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) reiterated its goal to launch LTE service in 30 NFL cities by the end of the year, covering 100M POPs. AT&T (NYSE: T) noted that it plans to cover 70-75M POPs sometime next year; AT&T is also upgrading to HSPA+ in many 3G locations in the meantime.

The Samsung Galaxy tablet was introduced as an Android-based competitor to the popular Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad. The Galaxy will be available for all national carriers (or 3G, not 4G, networks).

Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) CFO Robert Marcus, speaking at an investor conference, noted that its markets have been “very, very weak” in the third in the third quarter and will likely impact subscriber numbers.
