Apple's iPad Making Its Mark, 2nd Generation Expected In Early 2011
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is having its iPad make headlines for cutting Best Buy's (NYSE: BBY) notebook PC sales in half, and also that Apple is gearing up (already) for the iPad's second generation launch, Oppenheimer reports.
Estimates from Best Buy have seen Apple's tablet drop notebook PC sales by "as much as 50 [percent]" since it started shipping to the retail big box store in April, according to Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn.
The TV market has been saturated and consumers that have trended towards replacing their old sets with new ones may now choose an iPad because it is genuinely different, according to iSuppli's Riddhi Patel.
Shipments for the second-gen iPad are expected to begin at the beginning of 2011, suppliers and Oppenheimer report.
Apple, Inc. closed yesterday at $276.57.
