Weekly Roudup: Wunderlich's Current Ratings for MLP's (BGH, BPL, FEN, KYN, LGCY, NRGP)
A 20% total return for MLP is still expected, according to Wunderlich Securities analyst Ethan Bellamy, although the Eurozone financial contagion could cause MLPs to drop.
The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) remains high, which historally has meant this is a good time to buy into MLPs.
"MLPs have outperformed the broader market year to date, with the Alerian MLP Total Return Index (AMZ.X-$291.10), Tortoise MLP TR Index (TMLPT-$587.30), and Cushing 30 MLP TR Index (MLPXTR-$480.90) posting 5.6%, 4.8%, and 6.5% YTD, respectively, vs. -3.9% total return for the S&P 500. We expect continued outperformance given MLPs' positive exposure to hard asset inflation," said the analyst.
