Ethylene Prices Rise 20c/lb Over Past Two Months, Deutsche Bank Reports
Spot ethylene prices have risen 20c/lb over the past two months primarily reflecting a succession of unplanned outages representing 15% of US ethylene capacity, Deutsche Bank reports.
“Despite the recent spike in spot ethylene prices, North American ethylene remains competitive internationally due to advantaged natural gas-based feedstock,” Deutsche Bank writes.
“With demand holding steady despite year-end seasonality, we expect ethylene margins to remain at peak-like levels (~12c/lb) in Q4 (10 c/lb is considered peak).”
